The title pretty much says it all. Would there be any benfefit to rain-Xing all of the windows, save for ice removal in the winter. Does the water beading up on the windows impair visibility too much? Right not it is a little too late because it is already done since I was a little too curious. And on my meds so no driving anywhere for me today. Have to wait until it rains to see how it looks! All it really needs now is a leverling kit for the font. Since it has X-REAS and RAS lifts are out of the question but not in my plans anyway. Maybe just de-badge or paint the badgeing a nice shade or dark grey. New wheels would be nice. Saw an awesome set on a Lexus RX350? the other day that I fell in love with. They were a dark gunmetal metallic grey. Too bad hey wee 5-lug. Well time to stop babbling since this is probably mostly incomhempresable. CHEERS!!!

I'm a big fan of Rain-X as well. Used it on a variety of emergency response vehicles, interstate moving trucks and personal vehicles for 15 years. It works well and better the faster you go. You will notice how little/slower you use your wipers vs. other drivers.
Best use was my cross country move in a Penske 28' towing a car and driving through the worst rainstorm I've ever seen while driving in Kansas. There is no way I would have made it without Rain-X. Applied it the day before and glad I did.
I use it on all windows and mirrors (all glass surfaces). Never had an issue with the side mirrors but don't know how much it helps either.

My side mirrors get really bad water spots that are hard to remove. If there was any coating it's probably gone now. I think I've Rain-xed them before, but I can't remember. It doesn't last long, and I'm too lazy to apply it often enough, so I usually don't use it.
Rain-x on the sunroof is nice to help keep it clean.

Just add to the washer reservoir, and squirt away. I have some in a windex bottle for doing the sunroof and mirrors...:reddance:

This haha. Drives my wife nuts. But yes as long as you drive over 45 it just beads and runs right up the windshield. I have it in my washer reservoir as well.
for what its worth, Rain-X is old technology. It's known as a coating which doesnt last very long, similar to wax for your paint. If you want any kind of longevity out of it, go for a sealant.

I'm a cheapskate, so I use a spray wax that I buy online, and each app is as simple as spraying on before drying during a wash, and wiping off. Acts a bit like a quick detailer, and lasts about a month of regular use.. but I find it disappears the more you use the wipers (obviously).

This is dependent on numerous factors. But if really concerned pay the extra $2 for washer fluid with rain-x in it and just go that route.
I like using the Rain-X washer fluid as well ut it always seems to leave an annoying haze on the glass where the wipers don't reach. The lazy part of me uses both. The slightly OCD part goes apeshit over the haze. But the lazy part always wins out and it stays there until the next wash. Multiple coats of the rain-x on one application doesn't really do anything, right?

That's what I do, just wax the windows when doing the vehicle, seems to last well over 6 months for me.
Any ideas about applying it on the inside of the windows? maybe it will help keep the grime and cigarette smoke off. Just a a thought. I am in a weird mood today and am trying to come up with mostly free stuff to do with my 'Runnr. Paint the emblems with Testord mofelllllll

WD-40 attracts dust, I wouldn't advise doing this. Your windows will get covered in dust then smear up.

I'm not sure who owns the 4Runner but I do not allow anyone to smoke in my 4Runner, even drunk people who I may DD on a concert night. There's a time and place for cigarette smoking and it isn't one of them it when it comes to riding in my 4Runner. If your 4R reeks of said smell, I would have everything shampooed and detailed on the inside and set new rules for passengers unless you're willing to tolerate the smell.
