RainX wipers, what did I do wrong?

This is what I bought. I used the book at the Walmart that has cars then which part number for which manufacturer.

The flap pops up when driving under certain conditions or about 70+mph:

I contacted RainX, only an automated reply that they would get back to me.

(I put the originals back on.)

Keep the original frames and replace only the inserts. The original frames are high quality and the inserts are cheap from the dealer.
 
I've had my OEM blades on since I bought the 4Runner back in March 2013 and I still have the original rubber inserts on. Even when I get my maintenance services done, the dealer "green lights" my blades. Crazy! I bought inserts after my first winter and realized I didn't need to replace them. The only thing that requires attention is that's windshield has that hazy kinda look in the rain. Perhaps an aggressive window cleaner? I didn't think it would be wiper related... but maybe I'm wrong.
 
Apparently Bosch work best on marshal's truck.


OEM works best on just about everyone else's on the entire forum. :pop2:

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Don't POKE THE BEAR!!!

I have cheap rain-x ones. They work fine for now. Wish I wouldn't have thrown out the OEM ones at this point. Oh well. :shrug:

I cant/wont say the OEM wiper suck, but Bosch wipers are awesome. they work great.

the only difference might be in the price, as they look identical. how much are OEM wipers? Bosch are expensive!

Bosch > RainX.
However I've found that using a window treatment such as RainX or other brands works magic in rain. No need to even use the wipers at highway speeds in light to medium rain. Would also help to keep mud from sticking while off-road.
 
I had the Bosch and my driver side kept coming off. I went back to the oem ones. My passenger side Bosch never gave me any problems though. Don't know why driver side always screwed up
 
Just got the RainX Hybrids on the 4Runner and I like them so far.

My favorites ever were the Bosch Icons, but Bosch doesn't list them as compatible with the 4Runner.... I never took the time to really check if any fit well enough.
 
In the 4th gen section, there are about equal numbers of good and bad reviews for both Bosch Icon and RainX Latitude. I got some RainX Latitude on sale on Amazon, but I haven't tried them yet. PIAA Silicone blades seem to be universally liked, but expensive. A few people have used Valeo blades and have positive reviews. Scrubblade makes scrubbing blades, but not many people have used them. I think there was a thread about those, but I can't find it.

Sadly we don't have the great OEM blades that 5th gens get. Ours are just multi part arms that freeze up in the winter. If anyone has a set of 5th gen OEM wiper arms you don't want, I'll buy them from you if they might fit my 4th gen and if the RainX ones don't work.
