Ran in to a bit of snow...

After a week in Moab we headed home and into some snow. The 4Runner wasn't phased and pulled the trailer just fine. Thought you'd get a kick out on the results of 11 hours of crappy driving.

The build-up was probably about 2' and equal on both sides. Most surprising to me was that it happened on my final tank of gas. I had knocked off what was there while filling my tank. We did hit 70° in Moab a couple days before this and didn't check the weather report before heading to Denver on Monday, I should have known better. Ah, Springtime in Colorado!

I feel you. I drove over Cameron pass on Monday night. Big mistake. Worst snow storm I have had to drive through. I'll post up some pics where I was actually plowing snow with the front of the 4r. Gotta love the springtime in Colorado

It's nice to know I'm not the only Coloradan that should have checked the weather and didn't! Post your pics, I'd love to see them.

It is hard to see due to the crappy cell phone pics but this is one of me actually "plowing" snow with the front bumper valence.

Wow, that's a mess! Looks a lot heavier that what I had to deal with, we had more wind, ice and slush. Neither are very much fun for sure. Next time I'll remember to check and stay in Moab until things clear up.

My girl had ran into a snowbank and her car was incapacitated. She made it the "Trading Post" which is in the Poudre Canyon (Great place with nice cabins and some amazing folks!). She was a bit freaked out and said it was "starting" to snow. I looked at the weather and I knew this storm was coming. Little did I know that it had already hit hard west of me. Rabbit Ears pass was pretty bad but not nearly as bad as Cameron Pass. The wind was so bad that while plowing through the snow it would just blow right back on my windshield and freeze. There were many times all I could do was point it straight and try to stay in between the reflector poles (can not remember what they are called). I also had to just stop quitea few times because I simply could not see even my hood. To top that all off about 20 minutes after Rabbit Ears I was going about 20mph. I started to see something very faint but closing in fast....It was a moose. Luckily it trotted right off the road before I ran into it! 2 and a half hour trip turned into a 5 and a half hour trip! The cabin we stayed in was nice though!
