rancho rs5000 vs rancho rs9000

Has anyone used both?
The 5000's are a lot less cheap.
THe 9000's have adjustable stiffnesses.

Any other input from experience in using these?

I want to get the 9000's cuz my friend has them and they are great.

How are the 5000s?

Are they comparable to each other or are they a big difference?

I had the 9000's in my 2001 F150. They were very good, but I never adjusted them, even when I went off road. It was just such a PIA to get under there and switch all four. Plus it's hard to tell what setting they were on. They do make an"automatic" accessory that adjusts with switches from inside the cab.

There may be better choices out there.

Go bilstein and never look back

most of the time the 5000's or any other shock of the same type are too stiff for most applications except larger vehicles. You will have more comfort and performance with monotube shocks.

Similar story, I had 9000s on a 1999 chevy tahoe 4x4. I never once got under it to change them, but I spent the money for that ability. Then I damaged one in the front and had to replace both of them with something slimer, due to a tire issue. It was a waste of money in my opinion, looking back now

Got 9000's for fronts and on Setting "5" bounced alot on the freeway. Got em at 6 and they're about the same as XREAS.

I got non adjustables on the rear though, I think you only need adjustables if you keep going off road....if its all street driving then I dont think you'd need to adjust em all that much.

I've run the Rancho 5000's and RSX's. Hated them both cause they rode rough on the road. When it came down to off road action they shined however. There has to be a better shock out there that will give you the hard core but a better ride when just around town.
