I figured I would do a quick write up on how I solved my random engine idle problem.
Problem: Engine would jump from 750rpm's to 2500rpm's and anywhere in between then drop back to normal and continue to do that for a while.
Solution: Engine Temperature Sensor was bad. After market price was maybe $10 if I remember correctly. On 3rd gen 4runners its just under the timing belt cover and some metal lines. Wasn't rocket science to replace.
Hope this helps and saves money, most people told me to replace the MAF which is not cheap.
