Rant: what's the deal with chrome

Looking for a good alloy wheel source

I've got a stock '06 4Runner Sport V8 in titanium silver and want to change up the wheels. I've considered the Limited's 18's, and the TRD 18's (BBS type) that a couple of you run (so I can do some offroad), but I'm also looking for examples of 20's.

My biggest problem, however, is that apparently 99% of the aftermarket wheels available are either black or chrome (where over 90% are chrome). I don't get it. Where are all the silver alloys in platinum, titanium, gun metal, what have you. Anyone know a good wheel source that's not stuck in the chrome age?

You have the Sport wheels...not the crappy SR5 wheels that I have.

The Sport wheels are hot...I wouldn't swap them out & you have a lot of tire options. Especially if you want to upside to 265/70/17

However if you're planning to get the 18" Limited wheels...I can vouch for Fo_SheeZy this guy is super detail and probably has OCD haha. The 18s he has will for sure be mint.

And I see that you're in Seattle...maybe I can take your wheels off you, I'm located in California.

Good points. I do like the factory 17's that come with the SE. And I know that the Limited 18's are still small enough to get some reasonable tire choices that will fit. I like what Promed did with his rig (lifted XREAS + Limited 18's). Although, I think Crozhawk has a great setup too (full suspension + TRD 18's + more).

I almost pulled the trigger on a set of TRD 18's the other day, but giving it a little more time.

Agreed, I would keep my factory wheels, and would only consider upgrading to the newer limited 18's if I had a screaming deal, because chrome blows. I hate the way it screams "LOOK AT ME!!!"

Get the 18's! They are pretty awesome wheeels coming from factory!

Promed & crozhawk have gorgeous trucks!!

But I wouldn't touch the TRD wheels...they don't look that great IMHO.
