I would imagine that the oil filter is no more difficult to change with RCI skids than it is with the factory bottom engine cover in place, but I can let you know as soon as I get mine :D

To be honest, I just got the 4Runner, so I don’t know how hard it is to get to. From what I saw, it looks like you have to remove the factory skid plate to get to I. I wish it was up top like on my 4L Tacoma. It’s so easy to change!

Most guys use a flexible, formable funnel to do the oil filter. In my 2WD I can reach through the spindle where the CV joint would be and twist the filter off by hand into a tall funnel without removing my skids.
Of course it's easier to do without the skid plates in place

Another reason to like the RCI skids, at least for me, is the use of 3/8" hardware to secure them. Other offerings, and I didn't check them all, provide 5/16". At least several members felt it desirable to purchase 3/8" bolts, washers, nuts at the local hardware store...

Response from someone I know who had RCI skids:


“The filter is serviceable through the access door and the plug is done from the hole closer the the back of the skid. It would help to have tiny hands....”

I didn't notice the service opening on the website pics, or did I miss that?

I believe I have seen pics with the service openings, not long ago.

thanks for putting this together full 5th gen package ordered. Added weight to the 4 runner but I did lighten my wallet so that should help..... :)
 
For those of you with 4th gen V8s, they do NOT have an access panel for oil changes. I just spoke with RCI and confirmed this. They have thought about it, but at this time...nope.
Maybe if enough of us V8 owners ask about it they'll put it in motion if they see there is a real want for it.

RCI....please, please, please consider it!:cheers:
