I have a question regarding the 3/16" steel fuel tank skid plate. In the descriptions, it says "includes Heavy duty black powder coat finish for unmatched aesthetic appearance and corrosion protection" but the drop down box has the satin black powder coat for an additional $50.

What's are the pros and cons of aluminum vs steel skids?

Aluminum is half the weight but once cracked is done.

Steel is heavier but will take some serious abuse.

The opinion of some guys I know that wheel a lot of expo and parks is that either need some gussets and bracing in order to really make the skids hold up. I am going aluminum and going to have some bracing welded in asap.
