I built the Tire carrier. works well and bolts right to the frame underneath. If I could go back I would have it pivot from both sides so that the swing isn't so long.

Any closer pics of the carrier? Maybe with the carrier open and the tailgate shut?

Great looking pair! Now when is the Tacoma getting modded??? I love that bumper and tire carrier btw. I have been wanting to convert my front bumper to a 3 hoop and build a rear bumper/tire carrier for a while now but with how much I have been towing lately I think fabing up a bolt on tire carrier is the way to go so I can still use my factory hitch. I have seen several renditions of tire carriers for the runner but I think yours is one of the nicest.

Thanks! i would love to mod up the taco! Probably a lift only in the near future to maintain it as our daily driver. Ya it works pretty well. Though I like the centered spare I think if I did it again I would have the tire offset to create less moment and swinging distance. It actually protects the back of the truck really well too.

So after a lot of CAD drawing and bending and Cutting(RCI hookup), I came up with working prototype although a little rough around the edges.

Nice build!!!! I really like your mock up front bumper as it keeps your T4R looking really clean. I'm not a big fan of the hoops that were added (as they are on many front bumpers), but they do serve their purpose. I'm not saying it isn't a killer front bumper, but for my taste I just prefer hoop less. :cheers:

After seeing some sweet setups on the trails, I decided I wanted a rooftop tent to mount on top of the rig so my wife and I could go camping anywhere rain or shine. Long story short, I ordered 5 tents from China, had to figure out customs, freight, etc. and after 5 mounts of logistics, I got my tent and sold the other 4. Not easy but it made the tent free which saved me about $3000. Here is the setup. Oh and I forgot that I built a rear tire carrier to hold my hi-lift and 33" tire. Ill post a pic later.

Nice tent! How did you find the quality of it? Any issues so far? Does it sleep two comfortably? Thanks
