Re-attaching door weather stripping

The weather stripping on both my front doors is pulling away in the upper back corner (the corner where your head would be). This is the rubber strip that runs around the door opening on the body side. They aren't brittle but when I try to pull it back up to the corner it slips back off. Do you think I could try glueing it up in that corner to hold it in place? Any ideas of what kind of sealant/adhesive that would work? I would think replacement is pretty expensive.

If it's pulling away in the corners like that, it may have shrunk a bit. You can try using some sort of adhesive and hopefully it'll work. But you might be better off just replacing them. I don't think they're actually that expensive.

Where do you recommend finding them for a good price? My trunk door stripping is all loose too---causing crazy wind noises on the highway

(btw- great reply in that thread about stock shocks with Bilstein 4600.... just picking up a set of 4 myself based on your advice, thanks!)

What if I'm a cheap lazy sob...what type of adhesive would get that thing stuck again? I'm thinking some nasty roofing adhesive and some clamps for a couple hours. This was my dad's 99 limited rig until 06/2013 and was stored in a garage it's whole life only has 115K. I have to try and fix that bastard first right?

my dad used to take my 4runner on long road trips, the weather strips will eventually shrink, what he found was that you cut the loop at the front of the door jamb and add in more pieces of stripping, then move the stripping around so it fits back, its highly effective and its cheap, if your weather stripping has holes in it though you might want to replace it.

You need what every mechanic/body guy calls 'Yellow Snot.' It's a good test for your autoparts counterman because he can't find it in his computer.

Don't cut it. Just go from the beginning and each time you press it in, stretch the weather seal little bit. I recently replaced my driver side and had the same problem as yours. Then I took it off again and did it from the beginning while stretching each time.
Make sure to press every single inch.

Try taking off the weather strip, and with two people stretch it gently like a rubber band to lengthen it some. When putting it back on the vehicle, push a section on the pinch weld and roll the rest on working your way around the door opening. If it's still too short give it another stretch and re-install until it fits properly.

Do NOT cut it!

Just tried this on my '99 Limited and it worked. Took a while as all 4 doors had similar issue in same location. One door at a time, and work the strip. I used a small amount of the 3m Super Adhesive - seems to be holding up. 4 weeks since I did the work.
