Re-calibrating speedometer and odometer?

I'm kind of surprised these speedometer correctors are even legal . You could go and in theory, set it so your reading way on the low side and it would keep your mileage low. Then just use your GPS to get your actual speed and not even pay attention to the factory speedometer.

Did on my 4th gen,, works like a champ. Requires cutting and soldering wires.

On my 5th gen,, turns out with 285's the speedo is spot on.

I guess my primary concern is having an accurate speedometer. I don't need any (more) speeding tickets.
