RE: Engine Noise, Ticking

I have a 2000 4Runner with 2.7L engine. It has 135K miles on it and lately it has a ticking noise on the engine. I took it for smog check, which it passed, and the mechanic said that the ticking sound is most likely the timing chain. Well, 1 month later, I changed the timing chain along with water pump and thermostat. The ticking sound is still there. It seems like it is coming from the exhaust side of the head of the engine. I adjusted the gaps on the valves about 3 months ago.
What do you think could be causing this loud ticking sound? I am thinking that the valve springs are getting weak? BTY, the pressure on the cylinders are 200 psi +/-10.
Thanks.

I'd bet the farm the exhaust header is leaking. This is a well known problem with the 2.7L. Check out the tacomaterritory forums for tons of info.
