I was browsing in the new TT magazine and according to JD Power 48% of full size domestic pick up truck owners say they won't even consider buying a foreign branded truck.

33% of import truck owners don't want a domestic truck.

25% of import buyers don't trust domestic trucks' reliability , while a negligible number of domestic don't trust the imports reliability .

Toyota maybe looking at building 2 more assembly plants in the USA , one for compact cars like the Yaris , while the other plant would build full-frame SUV's like the 4Runner.

Toyota has spent $373 million for a 5.9 % stake in Isuzu What does Toyota see in that company.....diesel engines. In april 06 GM sold a 7.9 % stake in Isuzu. Could a Tundra Duramax be that far away ?

I think that new Tundra might have its work cut out for itself,be nice to see it kick ass.

I ran into a a guy at the diesel with a 06 4x4 f250. We asked how he liked it , he said it was great and loved it , except for the turbo going out , the rear end going out , rear seals leaking , and a bad tranny it was a great truck. We asked what he was going to do and he said Buy a new Tunda !!! Sweet !!!

Interesting.... but they have nothing against buying a truck that was made in a foreign country.
GM trucks are more "foreign" than the Tundra. Some Chevy Silverado 1500's (a.k.a. GMC Sierra) are made in Canada, and the Avalanche is made in Mexico.

It's not happening right now, but several years of the Dogde Ram 1500 (late 90's/early 2000's) were also made in Mexico.

But the Toyota Tundra and the Nissan Titan are made in the U.S. Go figure.

I know if you go back 20 years ago imprt sales of trucks and cars has continually gone up so I'm sure you take the smae poll in 10 years that number will decrease and more import truck owners will exist.

Toyota has obviously done it's homework. They are counting on grabbing market share. The dually version is due out in 2010 but may get delayed to 2011 and will get a big diesel. Not sure why the Isuzu buy because TOY Trucks are actually Hino subsidiary designs.

Not to mention ALL Super Duties have manual locking hubs! How can Ford get away with a brand new "heavy duty truck" having manual hubs. WHY??????

Toyota have been making great diesel engines since the 1960's. I wonder what Isuzu could contribute that toyota doesnt already know/do...
When I was chatting to a dealer last year he said that the Tacoma will be sold in the US with a diesel engine in 2008.
