I am ready to purchase a new 4runner and am in the Denver area. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on dealers that were easy to work with and what a fair price is.

I am looking for a 4x4 sr5 with the convenience package, 3rd row seats and remote start in black or metallic gray. I drove one today at stevenson toyota that had everything but the remote start and the msrp was $36778 is there a good place on the web to figure out what invoice is and what a fair price is?

Thanks for any help, I am looking at a gobi stealth rack and blacking out all the chrome once I get settled in with the new truck.

New Cars Pricing and Comparisons Local, Regional and National Car Price Reports at TrueCar Hands down the best resource for buying a new car. Shows factory invoice, shows "invoice", average paid price, and MSRP. Brilliant if you have a pretty good handle on statistics and histograms.

When I was shopping last spring/summer - the front range dealers were all pretty much not willing to play ball. The best dealers in metro area were Stevinson East and Go Arapahoe. Go Arapahoe wanted play some serious ball w/ me on the last day of the month.

Northern metro dealers (Boulder & Stapp) were a joke.

Ultimately I didn't get much movement until I got a seemingly lame certificate from Overstock.com Cars - which was for under invoice.

I bought from a broker who acquired the car from Larry Miller in the Springs. And early on there were a lot of folks on here saying that Larry Miller was more aggressive than most. I paid right around, or just under the Edmunds invoice pricing.

For service, Mountain States rocks. On par (except for the free rental) as Stevinson Lexus.

Truecar.com is a pretty cool site. They show a price of 33,800 which seems pretty reasonable. I contacted some dealers by email last night, let's see if the call today.

I think that I found the 4runner that I want. its an sr5 4x4 with the convenience package, 3rd row seats etc; basically everything but leather.

Through email I was quoted "invoice price at $33,401.00. I can include my dealer fees which would put us at $32,902.00, plus $499.00, $33,401.00, plus taxes! That is -$500.00 below invoice"

Does that compare to what others are paying? What sort of dealer fees do they try and tack on and has anyone had any luck getting them removed?

I bought a SR5 4x4 prem/leather/moonroof/backup camera/blizzard pearl last week starting with truecar based on a recommendation here.

Got the ball rolling and found out the dealers wanted to sell. Got an offer of around 1100 under "invoice" plus a couple freebies. Ended up buying for slightly more at a preferred dealer and I'm happy. Dealer did try to add in a few bucks of dealer taxes and on line dmv fee, but I just had them take them out.

USAA.com has an free and public online car buying site. You'll get a price certificate for LESS than Dealer Invoice. Then you just walk on lot and they will sell you the Truck for that price. Any changes will raise or lower invoice, but what you will pay stays the same (relative to the invoice).

Overstock.com works the same way.
