Ready to install Downey kit, but confused

I just received my kit from Downey and I'm pretty impressed with the overall product, but the instructions are pretty poorly done.

I have a lot of parts that I really have no idea what to do with. I got the fronts together with no problem.

These are the parts that I'm confused about:

1) Some large rectangle brackets. I think they are extentions for the front swaybar, but no mention of how to install them. I think this and the towers are it for the front.

2) There appears to be replacement tie rod ends for the rear, but no mention in the instructions. Includes various washers, spacers, inserts, and "C" clips.

3) Some 8" long bolts that are a mystery to me.

4) Also, I ordered Doetech (sp?) shocks for the rear, but they sent Bilsteins. Model says it's for a Land Cruiser. Does this sound right?

I'm going to call Downey tomorrow and find out what these are and hopefully they will be able to help.

I thought maybe someone else that had installed the kit would have some experience.

That $400 install price is looking better and better since it's supposed to by 109 degrees here on Saturday!!

see my comments by the photos. You should also have new rear stainless braided brake lines


Thes are spacers that relocate the mounting points of the front sway bar pivot brackets/bearings

You don't need these but they are front bump stops for the A-arms

The poly-bushing links are to replace the shorter ones on the rear sway bar. Dunno what the bolts are for.

this looks like all of the rear shocks' hardware

I'll bet that those are Doetsch Tech shocks in a recycled box

Per Downey:

Pic 1: These are to lower the front sway bar. Nothing in instructions yet. Oh well..

Pic 2: 4 small bushings are for the rear tie rods. Other pieces are the front bumpers that go on the bottom of the upper control arm.

Pic 3: Long bolts are to drop the rear differential one inch. Not a necessary step. Other pieces are the rear tie rods.

Pic 4: Upper left bolts are to mount the tie rods thorugh the red bushings. Studs go in other side of the tie rods. Gold washers at bottom go with small black bushings from Pic 2. Small nuts go on top of tie rods. Remaining are for bottom shock mounts if needed.

Pic 5: They substituted Bilstein shocks because they were having trouble getting the Deutechs. They charged me the lower amount.

I'll be glad with this is all done and I can go get tires!!

My installer said that the front bump stops were not needed on newer 4Runners. I'll have to call Downey now and see. I am emailing you pictures.

I put 275/70/17 Goodyear MT/R's on toady and got a pleasant surprise. Got home and expected to see my spare in the back of the truck and it was under the truck in the stock location! Fit with about 1/16" to spare with no problem...

I have the 2005 SR5. Looks and rides great. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
