Ready to pull the trigger on Bilstein shocks...

Hi,

I can't find any Bilstein shocks in stock for my runner anywhere in Canada. In fact, all shops I called suggested that I bought the shock myself online in the USA if I can find them....

I was quoted around 250$ for the 4 shocks installation.

Now, my question is, should I go with the 5100 kit from Toytek or buy the HD kit for any other online retailer. I have no need to level or lift my runner. I've heard that the 5100 require a very small mod for the rear, so right now I think the HD would be best since I wan't to keep my truck as stock as possible.

I just bought some rears from Wheeler's Offroad in Oregon, they had just gotten some in stock. That was about a month ago, so try them.

The rears do not require any modification, they bolt right on.

The fronts will require that you replace the stock shock in the coil-overs which whoever quoted you $250 for all 4 probably didn't realize. The fronts alone typically cost more than $250 to install, though maybe not much more. The rears are a simple process for any shop.

Can you install the 5100 without any leveling? In that's the case, should I got with the 5100 or the HD?

You can put the 5100s on without adding any lift, but it's not a big deal for whoever installs them to adjust to level it out, if you'd like. But no, you don't have to do that. I don't know anything about the HDs, so I can't help you there.

That's incorrect. Look here:

You can see there are 4 settings for the front (only) shocks. Simple. Any shop that installs them can set them at whatever ride height you want. The .85 will level it. Any other higher setting would require some rear lift to be level.

I have 4 5100's, fronts set at .85, and I'm very satisfied with the results.
