I agree in principal with sliders that bolt to the frame as best, but on my Jeep Rubicon, the factory Rubicon rails bolt to the body as well and I haven't had any issues.
We had the Predator steps on our 4Runner, which I took off as the would catch on anything on the trails, and occasionally shins off the trails! They are next to impossible to give away so I was thinking about cutting the steps off and bolting them back on for some margin of protection?
We don't rock crawl but I would like something there in the interim at least until we can pickup some real sliders. Thoughts?
If you like to play in the dirt, I personally wouldn't use steps in place of a slider, even if you have gotten way with it in the past. I wouldn't let that stop you from enjoying yourself offroad though, just let someone else go first..lol.
