I looked at some older posts, did some google searching, not find exact what I looking for.

I want stock ride height and just a bit more heavy duty spring for towing and some gear and friends in truck.

Seems that for what I read most aftermarket stuff is prone to early sag..

What am I looking for and what works and not junk in a year or two?

2001 4runner v6 4wd

When I updated the suspension on my 02 with 180K miles last year I went with Toyota factory springs all around and KYB shocks/struts.
I wanted to restore factory ride height as well as a comfortable ride as mine is strictly an on road driver.......mission accomplished, very happy with results.
Not sure if that helps you but i’m sure others will offer some other options.

You’re likely going to want a 99 tall rear spring back there. It will sit a bit higher in the rear unloaded but should load up nicely.

You could use a load hauler like the OME 2906 but that’ll likely be too high in the rear if you are not matching the front.

I don’t think anyone makes a heavy duty stock spring, esp for a 2001 which has short springs.

How much taller is the 99 rear springs then 2001?

I assume if I buy aftermarket 99 springs they will sag to about what I want anyway?

PDSPEN,

Wow, thanks for the link to the Firestone Air-Bag Helper-Springs.
I've looked them over and I was impressed.
What you said about crashing on hard bumps is exactly right. Hope these help.

So, before I do a final order, just wanted to check back with you to see,
if they were still working well, after 7 months on the road?
Anything to add?
Did you do the install too?

I installed a set and it was good as long as you check it's pressure at least every 3 weeks. NEVER run air bags below it's specified pressure: WHY? you can bottom out the shock as there are no bump stops any more and could damage the shock upper mount plate at full compression: It happened to me and it ripped the top plate from the frame!

I ended up removing the air bags (had it for 6 years and towed once). Installation was simple.
