Rear auxiliary lights mounted to spoiler?

I've got a 98 Limited and I'd like to add some auxiliary lights to the light up the rear for boat trailer/camping. I'm looking at something like the KC HiLites or the Baja Designs S1.

Has anyone mounted lights to the spoiler? Searched but didn't find any examples. I've got yakima round bars in the stock tracks but that's set forward of the rear hatch by about a foot. Looks like it would throw a shadow behind the truck.

My favorite manner to find out how a light will perform is to hook it up to a small 12v source (or run really long wires from front if you want), then you can find out what the light will look like at night in various places, making it really Easy to decide.

Where you think it might look best isn't always what you'll find out this way.

If you don't have a roof rack or rails to mount it on you could try flush mounting lights to your rear bumper. I think a few other members have done that here.

agree with OP, that the roof rails might be too far forward to do what you are trying to do. Bumper mount might be too low. The spoiler is metal but only mounts with 4 screws and they are not very big.
I have a full rack and it comes back further than the cross rails. When lifting hatch the spoiler just clears. SO if I was trying to get the lighting you want then it would work for my rack. Sorry that does not really help you if you dont have a rack.

I'm planning on doing this, though you should make sure to put some quick disconnects on the light wiring, otherwise you'll have to cut the wires anytime you need to remove the spoiler (such as for changing the 3rd brake light)
