Any suggestions on removing rear axle bearing on a 1990 4-Runner? I am new to the Toyota thing. Any help would be great!

You talking about the outer one behind the cover on the backing plate?

It helps to have a fixture to hold it in place on a press.
You can make one from part of an axle housing, but most people don't have one.

Yeah, is the backing sturdy enough to press the axle thru, I am concerned about bending it. I have a 100 ton press available, but before I attempted that I thought I would check for other ideas. There isn't really alot of space to support the assy. close to the center of the plate.

Rear axle bearing puller and ABS sensor ring remover

I have developed a tool to pull the rear axle bearings off the axles that is so easy a girl can do it! My tool is the result of 45 years experience. Call me and I will send you full info and pictures 850-893-8074

WOW, a 3 year old thread.

It helps to have a fixture similar to the one in the above link, although that price is beyond insane. Years ago I made one from part of a rear axle housing. I just dug it out a few weeks ago to press the axle out to replace the seal.
