Rear Axle crash and Toyota loses

yes, it is pointing to an axle failure. Yet, it all ends up pointing back to known issues with frame rot, Toyota knows and recalled the Tacoma but not the Runners and it appears as if other parts are also rotting out and failing.
but yet there are perfectly great ones, usually South/SW and West that hold up just fine.
Dunno but in the end, tragedy led to Toyota paying millions and the Govt. has shackled other manufacturers for alot less than 60 complaints be it vehicles or clothes, etc.
We learned from this to constantly check your Runner for signs of issues and impending issues. Some however, just happen no matter what you prepare for.

Legitimately convinced that all people can understand here is plastidip and The deckplate mod.
I feel like I’ll shoot that lawyer an email. Can’t hurt, since I can’t find any other documents on this case which may point to a specific part number. I can only find these failures on 3rd gens.

This is one of the issue's I always dislike about the internet and independent writers on articles for websites or etc. It's interesting to note you can find anything if you want to google it. I would love to read the Lawyer paperwork on what they said. More information is needed, but in regards to the NHSTA you can literally find anything.

Cool! I’ll look into them. That engine claim points out so many variables that can affect the reliability of this data. Oil passages too small? Ok buddy, drill them larger until you can’t build oil pressure. Also note the rebuilt engine. Probably a cheap Jasper. When you claim that a 3rd gen engine has a sludge issue, all I can argue is that you’re an idiot that doesn’t get his oil changed.
Yeah. Running into something similar into my other hobby (video games & etc) going the same route. One sides so extreme versus the other while i'm more of a guy to meet in the middle. Heck i'll go 75%... 
Even though I physically have limitations & mentally I still do my work on my vehicle with the help of my father and drag my son along to get into his mindset. Keep up on ANYTHING, in vehicle or health or whatever and you'll have it working the way you want (minus the one off catastrophe's). Just what I believe in and working for me still...

Yeah. Running into something similar into my other hobby (video games & etc) going the same route. One sides so extreme versus the other while i'm more of a guy to meet in the middle. Heck i'll go 75%...

I think it's some great knowledge to have. I personally don't do any DIY stuff anymore, but you never know when it'll come in handy. Apparently a handyman is attractive to women too, so there's that.
With that said, I don't necessarily trust some DIYers as much as I'd trust myself. I personally never had a major F up, but I'm pretty sure I saved my friends' lives a few times when they worked on their own vehicles. Some of these NHTSA complaints might be from people who simply can't read while trying to do something, and instead of blaming themselves they blame Toyota.
Definitely very interested in how they came to this settlement.

I’m gonna toss this out there that Nissan in 2011 did a recall on their Pathfinder for strut corrosion in rust belt states that covered back to 1996 or so to 2004 ish.
So all our harping on frame rust you’d think would get traction given Toyota’s own recall and all the complaints.
Here’s what I come across as yes I’m just looking around at options at times.

I read it, I'm reasonably well versed in the issues pertaining to rotted out 3rd Gen frames (I own 3 of them currently) but that's regardless given the context of the article with the legal case built around the axle not it's trailing/control arm to frame connection points.
The point I was trying to make was it's a sad and tragic loss irrespective of whom was deemed at fault and why.
I can also clearly state that nobody with a 3rd Gen is getting a frame recall or a axle or such component update due to this case or any other. Fact of the matter is we're owners of a vehicle that's not been in production for some 17 years at this point so anyone hoping for or feeling like they are owed something from Toyota probably should reach both hands out and try to fill one with Hope and the other with shit and see which one fills up first!
Back in 2002 I knew a guy who just got a Tacoma from a dealership. He was extremely hard on his vehicle and I never personally saw him do any work on it, oil changes or what not.
At just 34k miles he blew up his motor. The dealership said he neglected the oil changes and it was his fault. Now he ended up getting a new engine from Toyota or the dealership, but I strongly believe he didn't do any oil changes for the time frame....
All I'm saying about the guy I knew is depending on who/what and of course who you know unfortunately can get a lot of traction. I'm unfortunately finding out it's getting worse especially in the Electrical trade here. When I was working I was finding out that people who didn't do 1% of the work got the promotions at the beginning till after time passed they saw the truth. Just always frustrated about that...
