Id do it for you in 30 minutes... Its super easy once you've done it once. You only need to undo the 4 bolts on the back of the drum, and undo the brake line!
 
I notice you had many more responses to you other thread. Ask for help and not so much. LOL.

Lmao.. I've seen a bunch of people on here from Va... Where are they when ya need em?? I've actually never blown one so I have no idea how to replace it, can't imagine it could be that hard though.
 
I am not too far away; the problem is I won't have any time till 2012 since I am in DC until January for work and no tools.

Who am I kidding, I don't have a press for the bearings, which, with your mileage, I am sure need replacement. I at least could give ya a detailed list of what you need but check out BigFishAllDay's thread; he more than likely has posted such.

Got a pic of how bad the axle is leaking?
 
ive read this is a pretty common thing for the 3rd gens and i should replace the shoes while i have her apart too. there's still a decent amount left on the shoes but with all that oil leaking out on them im gonna replace those too. and its only on the driver side but might as well do both sides
 
Check out Tidewater Import Car Service; they are off of 264, right at the northern top of NAS. They used to be exclusively Acura/Honda, but I think they have expanded to servicing Toyotas. Good mechanics, no frills or BS, at least the one time I went there with a co worker to pick up her Acura.

If I hear of anyone else via work, I'll post back. Most folks I know with Toyotas end up at Charles Barker; decent repair work, but they pay dearly for it.
 
while your in there check wheel bearings as well....or actually before you get in there, might as well replace those as well if need be.
 
I spoke with a co worker this morning who takes his Sequoia to Japanese Auto Masters off London Bridge Rd., not too far from the mall there and on the west side of NAS. He likes them but they are a little arrogant but do good work.

In fact if you look at their web page, there is a 4runner on a lift getting the rear seals replaced it looks like, so at least they should know what they are doing.
 
haha yeah i saw that pic...looks like mine up on that lift!!

i know exactly where that place is. its by my old job....use to work at a powder coating business over there.

OK soooooo after cleaning the back inside of the rim and all that so it would pass inspection...i took her in today! he didnt even say anything about the real axle seal but was like you need your rack and pinion replaced. at first i had to think twice about what he said cuz the way he said it so fast i thought he said MY RACK!!! LOL good thing i realized quickly what he said b/c he almost got donkey kicked in the gut!! ;-)
so anyways, he's like i really dont feel comfortable passing this, its unsafe blah blah blah. so what did i do??? i batted my blue eyes ;): and said please dont fail this, i just got a ticket for it being expired and wanna get it dropped, and plus I have friends that are working on it on the side and I will have them do it! We BS'd a minute about the tinkering I plan to do..... So then he says may i ask why such a small woman would want such a big truck? i laughed and looked at him like are you high!!!!? CUZ THIS SH*T IS FUN!! :pimp:

SO SHE PASSED!!! WOOT WOOT :jump::jump: haha
