Rear bounce

No I did get the 4runner shocks, and no it doesn't just bounce when towing. The shocks have helped a bit, but really the bounce is just kind of on the highway, there is just a small bounce and it's not bumbs cause i'm on very smoothe surfaces. Also another thing is when I'm take more people it gets worse, when it's just me it's a lot better.

With the new shocks you shouldn't be bouncing at all. Are you bouncing all the time or only when towing? Getting a new set of 99 springs I don't think will fix your problem. If you tow a lot you might be better off with some OME springs which are stiffer than stock, but you will get lift from them. The shocks really should have calmed the rear end down. Did you get them for the 4runner or were they for a tacoma or something?

Is it bouncing or is it just rough over bumps? The Bilstein HD's tend to be a little stiff, not obnoxiously just firm. I'm really surprised to know it's bouncing but if it is hard over bumps that's somewhat normal. It's not a Cadillac after all.

Pitbull you're absolutely right it's no Cadillac lol. Anyways the shocks are actually great over bumbs well.. i'm comparing this to the crappy monroe shocks, so it might not just be that great over all, but I can tell it gives over the bumbs I could'nt really tell if the monroes gave at all.

You probably need new rear springs.

If your springs are sagged to the point where the car is resting on the bump stops or just short of doing so; it will bounce, because the shocks have no down travel

Dous the bumbstops are about an inch or 2 from hitting the bottom

Rear bounce huh? Id say cut back on the snacks and maybe take up an exercise class a few nights a week

I don't know what would be appropriate, but you can pick up brand new springs (MOOG) from AdvancedAuto for like 50 bucks. If you do a lot of towing, get springs from a 4wd they sit a bit higher so you will have a little more rake, but you wouldn't have such terrible sag under load.

The bolt on your track bar could be worn out. That happened to me. Drove me nuts when I had passengers! $1.50 fix for a new bolt..

Mine was warn out on the side that it connects to the axle. It's next to the left rear coil. If you can grab that bar and wiggle it at all that is most likely your culprit.

Was so nice once I fixed this!

Are you talking about the pan-hard bar? Because if you are I dont think it's loose, I remember checking it when I replaced the rear shocks.

I know that years ago I had an S10 Blazer 4x4 that had a kind of bounce but it was really evident at slow speeds. Then one year my friends and I were in Gatlinburg for a car show and we all piled into the Blazer to get something to eat.Well that is when I really noticed this bounce. It ended up that I had a badly bent rear axle on the passenger side hence the pattern-like bounce ,especially with weight in the back. Just a thought.

It's not really a constant bounce, it's just kind of random. The tires are great just put them on in January and no the rear seats do not shake.

I was wrong about the bumpstops they're actually a lot closer than an inch or 2 i'd say about 2 centimeters.

Mine did that

on the hwy when i would take my foot off the gas pedal to use the brakes. It turned out to be a tire out of round.

You could try re balancing the tires.

I think it is time for a tire balance and rotation I think they have about 5k on them maybe more i'll have to check.
