Rear Brake Drums vent

I hate replacing the rear brakes. There are so many springs and clips and bla bla bla. Why, toyota? Why?

I just graduated college so I have no money to spend for someone to do the work for me (boo hoo). This have been the least fun project on my 4runner.

Ok. That's all. Back to an amazing life in the free world. :cowboy:

The parts are cheap for Toyota on the assembly line. Much cheaper than putting calipers back in the rear.

The brake job, if you replaced all parts excluding the cylinders, and used all OEM, should be less than $100.

You can get 2 drums, a set of shoes, and all the clips for less than $100 at the dealer? I cant ever get that with a bunch of coupon codes at advance auto.

I don't know why one would have to get new drums, just have them turned for $25.

As bad as the salt/snow can be on Toyotas (it ate a hole in my Tercel's floorboard in while in Providence RI), I can see why the OP may have to get some new ones. That call is arbitrary.

But yea, all the OEM pads, clips, springs, grease, and bellcrank parts came to less than $75 for me at the end of 2009. I did forget to factor in inflation.
