What do you guys use for pads and rotor , the truck is a daily driven truck. I don't want to buy cheap parts but I always like to save if something better exist !!

Any of you ever tried the TRD pads ?

I've always stuck to the mid-tier auto parts store brand pads and rotors, never get their cheap bottom tiers. Order in performance pads when I feel fancy.

Word is the TRD pads are Stoptech Street Pads, just red and with the TRD stamp. A full 4 set of Stoptech pads can be had for half of the TRD set last I priced them out.

Ive always used oem pads and jobber rotors. Mainly for noise issues with cheap pads. Next set though I would like to try something better like hawk pads.

stoptech slotted rotors and hawk lts pads here.
went from ebc greenstuff 6000's for pad swap.
then ebc yellow and brakemotive slotted and crossdrilled rotors.
stoptech and hawk is the best combo for me.

Something like the 4runner or any of my other daily cars I use OEM pads or Akebono Pads. Which Sometime are the OEM pads. Raybestos rotors have been real good the last 10 years or so for replacements. (for daily). My G8 and other performance cars I've had are a different story.

I've used the powerstop rotors and Z23 pads on my jeep and put them on the runner 2 years ago. About to change the pads out to the heavier duty Z36 truck and tow to help with the 35s and towing i do, apparently going from 33 >> 35 and towing near max load ate through the last half of the performance Z23s pretty quickly. over all the best pads and rotors ive had on a vehicle. putting the pads in the front of my first gen with centric rotors as well.

Centric rotors and Akebono pads for me... so far so good.

I was just looking for a OE quality type replacement.

When my friends or customers come to me asking for brakes front or rear, I usually ask a few specific questions to help determine the type of pad and rotor combo that would best suit their needs.
As for me and everything Ive owned over the last twenty or so years, has always ran Hawk pads and Power Slot,(made by Centric) rotors and nothing else.
I do not use Cross Drilled rotors primarily due to the amount of surface area that is lost by the drilled out rotors. With slotted, yes, you lose some surface area but nothing as much as the drilled.
I run the HPS pad combination. Never had a problem, low dust, great bite hot and cold.
Hawk just introduced a new product simply called their 5.0 pads. They are new on the market and only in limited numbers.
I installed a new set of the 5.0's on my t4 on the front and I am here to say, WHOLLY MOLLY these things are the BEST non-race pads I have ever used. I am a very spirited driver on and off road. The other day, I was out on some rally type of roads I know pretty well. The visibilitywas great, so I can see if there is any on-coming traffic. I stopped periodically to check brake temps and the results were amazing.
At the hottest, I had brake temps around 687 degrees. Thats right 687 degrees. Didnt have any pedal fade, no brake smell and no brake smoke. I still had a consistent, ready to work brake system that gave me confidence....
Find me a set of pads that could get that hot without noise, fade or smoke.
The only thing Im going to do though is flush my brake fluid, front and rear after that stress on the fluid. Flushing brake fluid is highly suggested after high speed runs. Im sold on HAWK and CENTRIC/POWERSLOT SLOTTED, not cross drilled rotors. Thanks for reading my long story.

I've read you all, so powerstop/centric with akebono for a stockish feel or hawk pads for a more spirited driver ! I'll look into the akebono pads I know they are the oe supplier for subaru because that's what we install at work ( I'm a subaru technician) and know they are good ! they are probably the oe supplier for toyota !
thank you all for your input !
