Rear cabin bike mount

I just recently got into mountain biking and want to transport the bikes in the cab as they fit with the front wheels removed. I purchased two mounts with quick disconnects so i can easily secure them standing up instead of having them flop around on each other.

I plan on getting a 2x4 and cutting to length of the rear cargo area width. I want to get some 6" all-threads and put into the to secure mount bolt locations you see at the end in the corners of the cargo area by the gate. I will also be carpeting the board to match the tan interior. I plan to use either wing nuts with a washer to secure it across the cargo platform unless someone else has a better idea?

Ill keep this thread updated for others as well if they would like to do the same.

Here's the rack I built. Similar concept to what you're thinking. Not sure if you have the double decker shelf or not. 2×4 would be a cheaper and faster build.

That's nice, but over complicated. I can take mine out and throw it in the back of the truck if I want to drive it instead.
The reason I'm a 4Runner owner now is because one of my favorite bikes was stolen off my kuwat rack. Yes it was locked.
I know it's a mess. That's the dirt jumper. Very versatile so it stays in there 24/7. And yes that's my 3rd gen cargo mat.

I'm perfectly fine with over complicated at its cleaner. No way I'm just going to throw a piece of plywood in the back. No offense, but I'm not going to do that.

With all 3 knobs tightened down it doesn't even budge. I can pull on it with all my weight and it doesn't blink. Literally takes 30 seconds to install or remove the rack.

Anything worth doing is worth over doing Maybe you missed it but mine is removable too. Sweet bike btw.

Dpassmore, I made one like yours. How did you secure it to the floor at the ends? Just today I had two bikes on this mount and hit a couple of deep holes. Ripped the screws out of the plywood. The 2x4 would be more secure but I don't know how you get the bike far enough back and secure it at the tie downs.

Used this in my 3rd gen
Bike didn't move when I totaled it
When on carpet use the hook side of Velcro
You'll be surprised. I had a setup like that in the pick up
I have wheel tites and all that
I've carried many bikes many different ways
I mtn bike twice a week take all that out and put the dirt bike stuff in there on the weekend.
Or sometimes cram it all in there

I did something similar in the back of my 4th gen, but I didn't use a board. I simply drilled through the cargo shelf and installed 2 t nuts. I then bolt the fork mount to them with a pair of wing nuts when I want to carry my bike around.

yes plywood takes up space in the back but i dont even have mine mounted to the cargo hooks right now and i can still mount 2 bikes in the back without anything moving around in the back

A 1x6 works good with Velcro on the bottom. If I ever sell it I won't be asked what all those holes are from. Nothing is faster to to move. I take it out and leave it outside the carport is why it doesn't look nicer. It holds 2 bikes. The wheel tites would just take up more space. So they are in the shop.
