Paddle latches

To everyone that has them on their boxes. How do you mount your paddle latches and how much depth did you order? Pictures and maybe links would be awesome. I'm using 3/4 plywood and that is the last step I need.

I used 3/4" for my build and used these latches (eBay item number 162106947608).
They worked ok, but were not designed for the horizontal load that a drawer creates- they were designed for vertical, like a lifting lid. This creates slop in the latched drawer with small rattles

That's the thing.. figuring out how to make it sit flush as a sleeping platform. It would be a really cool idea though if I can figure a way to make it happen.

Would it really need to be flush? If you sleep with your upper body that end add something too make it flush, if feet end who cares. Maybe cut a piece of plywood or UHMW to use as a camp surface, cut a hand hole, set it on the ground, rocks, on top of drawers you have pulled out ? Most folks make the top with 3/4-1/2" material not alot to worry about IMO, But you have to consider where am I going to store it when not in use.

They aren't mounted in the pic but the latch catches mount down way, on the inside of the top deck

Here's mine. Not really cargo, more refrigerator. We use the Front Runner bindu boxes for cargo and they fit snug on the left side of the fridge.

Mine isn't done by any means, but i still haven't figured out how to keep the drawers 100% still while driving. Im thinking the stick felt pads in any area that makes noise.

For those of you who have shaped the top of the drawers to the shape of the interior, how much clearance is there around the edges to the plastic interior panels? And do you get any rubbing when/if your chassis flexes or on braking/turning/etc.? Some of these storage systems look great with a very tight fitment!

1/4 of an inch has worked for me. I'm using turnbuckles and "U" loops with nuts on the other side of the 3/4 plywood board so mine doesnt move when driving. Haven't had any problems with wood on plastic rubbing.

Holy cow never saw this thread. Ive been slowly building out the rear compartment. Is there a good solid place to run a ground from a house battery in the rear compartment that doesn't involve drilling holes through the body? Could I just ground it to bare metal behind one of the panels?

02 Storage Sleeper

Work in progress on my '02 ... everything is glued and screwed with the exception of the top so that I can get back in and install the drawers/sliders.

that is exactly the height and style i want to build. having the wings resting on the wheel wells. looking forward to the finished product. and when you do maybe i can see the plans?
