Rear cargo light question

My rear cargo light doesn't work when set to the door position. I took it apart and I don't get power to the wire that feeds the door part of the switch.

I was just curious when you open your front doors does the rear cargo light come too or just when your open the rear hatch? I'm trying to figure out where that its fed from. Is there a plunger device like in the front doors somewhere in the hatch I'm overlooking?

Just looking for some advice Thanks

sry i read a thread like this before but i dont remember the exact location but i can tell u that the rear dome light only lights up when u open the rear hatch. The only thing i remember from the other thread is that it ran somehow to the radio and i think that was the source of his problem.

I dont know about you guys buy my cargo light has a selectable switch for; door-off-on. Mine gets finicky sometimes i think the switch is cheap and over time will wear out.

Sry i didnt clarify, mine has the switch also to change between door/on/off.

You should be able to read continuity over the switch if it is removed and see if it is good. I can't find anything in the Chilton Manual right now but I will check the Haynes(its in the truck) and get back to you.

Thanks for the responses. I will tear it apart tomorrow and check if the circuit does close when door is selected.

All my doors (including the cargo) don't trigger the lights anymore, but all the lights work when I turn them on manually so I'm sure it's my trigger switches in the door jams - probably the same for your cargo door. Someday I'll get around to taking them out and I'll try to fix em or just replace them, but my truck is running like shat right now so not really a priority. A rebuild is imminent.... just waiting for the snow to be over with. And on that note, it just started snowing. rad.

feel ur pain on the snow. Today we got freezing rain. I'm ready for sun and hitting the trails on the dirt bike!

Mine does the same thing. No pin switch on the hatch door though, so it must be integrated into the latch. I've not had time to fix it, so I just put up with it.

I think the rear cargo light only comes on when the hatch is open. There isn't a pin switch, it's controlled by a gravity switch in the hatch.
