Rear Corner Mirrors

Those that bought the model with the the corner mirrors in the left and right rear of the car, do you use them at all?

I know I tried, but could never get used to them.

Use them all the time -- I'm probably the only one in the world glad that there aren't speakers there! When I drive anything else, I miss them.

They are really good for backing out in a parking lot -- just checking the traffic. But they are also good for backing up -- you can see about a foot behind the bumper with these things. They are ingenious.

By the way, we also put a small convex mirror on each side mirror to eliminate blind spots. Best $2 mod around.

Remember, you're not looking for detail when using them, just movement when you can't see around the parked cars on either side. They are great!

I'd have to agree....they're definitely something that you don't miss until they're gone (what a stupid saying, right?). They're perfect for parking lots full of other SUVs.

You must have really good eye sight to see those little things. But do you really see detail or just movement and that alone is enough?

Eyesight is terrible, but we won't go into that....

When using it to back out of a parking space, just looking for movement is enough. You still need to use your normal checking, too, just in case you missed something, but the mirrors give you a much greater margin of safety.

When backing up to park, though, the detail is good enough to see just behind the rear bumper. Helps to make sure you don't back into anything there. Be sure to check both mirrors though.

Too lazy to take a picture but basically look at the back inside of your car: now picture a mirror on the upper right and left hand corners of the car, that is where we have mirrors.

Anyone looking to get rid of theres? I upgraded my ditched the JBL setup and no longer use the rear pillar speakers. I would love to pop the speaker covers off and replace them with some of the mirrors...long shot I know

Surely these are still available? Maybe NOS or carpart.com?

One of the things I love about the 4Runner is that I can actually see out of it! I don't even need the mirrors.
