I've been struggling with the rear camera, as it was mounted on the rear window. Thought I was so smart by turning it sideways.
Anyway, learned that some of you use a 1" aluminum plate to mount your dash cam by removing the middle plastic tab that holds the headliner.
However, my dashcams uses a larger suction cup and that wouldn't suffice. While shopping around Home Depot, saw some lexan and the rest is history.
Parts:
$7 - plate of Lexan glass
$4 - 1" M6 bolt (came in a 2 pack)
Process:
Mount suction cup to corner of Lexan glass sheet.
Eyeball measure out enough space for the bolt.
Score the sides and cut the glass, and break at the cuts.
Drill hole for M6 bolt.
Unplug the plastic tab in the headliner.
Screw in the glass w/ M6 bolt.
Mount dashcam suction cup.
Adjust as necessary.
Profit.
If someone wants a plate and is near the 92807 area code. I can cut you some w the extra that I have. $3 donations to help cover my costs please.
Seeing that I have 1 bolt left, I'll split that with someone too.
