rear defrost button - illuminated?

hey all,
i have an 08 urban runner and i just noticed that when its dark and i have my headlights on, my rear defrost button isn't illuminated like the rest of the center console.

if i press the button to enable the rear defrost, i DO see the illuminated orange - at the top of the button face, but the actual picture of itself isn't illuminated.

is this normal? i dont think so

It should be illuminated just like the recirculate button. For safety during winter and so that you can easily locate it, change the bulb as soon as possible

Around 8 threads here discussing how to pullout the climate control assy/changing the bulbs plus some members change them to LEDS

On my 07 Limited, the recirculate and rear-defrost are NOT illuminated when NOT on. When they are activate, the light does come ON

They should both be illuminated when the lights are on.

My Sister has a 2004 v8 SR5 with 78k miles on it and they have the same problem.

One piece of advice, if you decide to get your bulbs from the dealer, order a few extra. When I removed the center console to replace one bulb, I ended up replacing at least three.
