Rear diff bearings

Hey guys just wanted to start a new thread cause the one I was posting in was getting a little off topic of what i needed. has anyone replaced the bearings in the rear diff? is it worth rebuilding the diff over just getting a new one and installing it?

for some reason i cant seem to find just the diff however there are a ton of used entire rear axle assemblies.

If you're paying someone to do the rebuild it will prob cost just as much as buying a complete third member and putting it in yourself it takes a while to set them up right after the rebuild if you want it to last. Some ppl say its quick and easy but to do it right it should take many hrs of cleaning and adjusting.

so you have done many rebuilds? pm me please.

also where would i just buy a new third member and could i possibly add an lsd to get a full 2wd? but the car does have 240k miles so i dont wanna actually spend too much money fixing it up for obvious reasons lol.

well just ordered my 3rd member from east coast gear so ill let you guys know what happens...hopefully the install only takes like a couple hours.

thanks for all your help guys from this thread and the other one lol.

I do like how our trucks have 3rd member designed axles. Makes it easier to set up the gears since you do it on the table and not on your back up under the rear end.

I think that's the first positive thing I've seen you say about a 4runner :clap2:
