I feel like I’ve been posting a bunch on here. So apologies if you’re getting tired of seeing my name haha
I had a question on my rear differential fluid change. Never done it before but looking to now. My ‘05 2wd has 191k on it. It’s running perfect. But I’m looking to change that rear diff fluid. I don’t drive the vehicle in extreme conditions or anything, nor have I ever done a transmission fluid change and I know the previous owner didn’t. I called a transmission shop the other day and he told me not to change it as long as I’m not getting to 220 degrees F on the Tranny Fluid because it will last the life of the vehicle in that sealed transmission. He said if I change it I could risk actually ruining the transmission.
So, my question is: does this have anything to do with the rear diff fluid? Is it sort of the same concept or does it have nothing to do with me risking damage to it since it’s never been done?
Thanks for the help
