The Mechanic I took my Surf to is having troubles getting my gears setup properly.
Disclaimer: I no nothing about installing gears.
Here is some base info.
My Rig: 1997 Hilux Surf SSR-G 3.4L Auto, no-elocker.
To the best of my knowledge I had 4.10 gears stock.
I purchased Nitro 5.29 gears and Yukon Master install kits and ARB Airlockers.
The Pic below will be the gears, the next post will be the install kits.
Problems: So after getting the diff put back together the mechanic had me try driving it. Reverse is chunky feeling almost as if I am rolling over rocks or sticks type of feeling. So driving forward seems ok until I let of the gas and there is a terrible Buzzing/Vibrating/Grinding type of noise, if I ride the brake before letting off the gas I can mostly avoid this noise.
The mechanic has since tried to reshim it and adjust backlash and such to no avail.
He is about to give up and there is not many options here in Northern Japan for places that would even think of doing this type of install.
1 Note: I did notice the Yukon Install kit says the following (V6 & T4 Toyota Master Overhaul Kit, 03&UP w/29SPL_Pinion) Kit#14212.
The 03' & Up thing has me worried, is this the correct Master Install Kit?
Any Advise would be helpful that I can relay on to him.
