Rear Diff Problem?

Hi I hope someone can Help. I put the rear end of my 2000 4runner 3.4L SR5 4x4 on jack stands put it in neutral and turned the rear wheel back and forth and it felt sloppy and clunked, is this a ring and pinion problem or a main or axle bearing issue? The wheel it self was fine so I don't think this is a wheel bearing problem. Thanks.

That sounds fairly normal if it's 1/8 of a rotation or less. There's some slop in the ring & pinion and when added to the slop in the spider gears inside of the diff it can do what you're witnessing.
