Rear Differential Breather

So, I just finished doing my extended rear diff breather mod.
*crosses it off his list*

BUT, I found something I think others should check out:

That's a photo of my 'breather' which hasn't been breathing for god knows how long.

Just letting you other 4runner owners with older models to check to make sure yours is able to breath properly. I can't even pry mine loose.

The mod worked out good BTW.

I did a search on this mod, Did you do everything like in the other threads?, did you run the fuel line in the same area?. what size line did you use?.The threads I read were not done on the 2nd Gen 4runner. Any details would be great if you get the time to post.

I ran basically the same system.
Same parts, 6ft long piece of fuel hose.

In the 3rd gens I believe you can run it right up to your gas cap, but for the 2nd gen we don't have that option as our liner is metal and not rubber. Well, you have the option, but it's too labor intensive for my needs.

There isn't much place to run it on the 2nd gens, and I didn't want to run it all the way across the truck up into the engine bay, so I settled for as high as I could go inside the rear end. It's not amazingly high, but if I need it to go higher if I come across a part that's deeper than that point, I can always remove the cable ties and temp strap it as high as I can put it on the outside or wherever, then just put it back to the normal spot when I get back home.

Incase you are wondering on the cost, and whatnot:

I am in the middle of nowhere, so parts tend to be pricey keep in mind it may vary where you are.

Union and Breather: $21 CDN, took 2 days to order.
Hose and 2 Clamps: $9 CDN, in stock at local autoparts store.
Install took about 20 minutes, mostly because I was laying on an icy driveway and had to stop and warm myself up now and then. :

Works out to $22USD.

I can take a photo of where the breather sits right now if you'd like.

Thanks Thai, I had never read that post before.
I did learn something from it though:

BUT, do not leave too much slack that the fuel line hose at ANY POINT dips...that is, the line should not bend down at any point! The fuel line hose should always go UP. This is to prevent any pooling of the differential fluid and cause clogging in cold weather. By running it upwards, if any oil collects in the line, it'll drain back into the diff.

I may try later on to run the hose along a different path, it was just too darn cold outside when I did mine today and I had to be somewhere shortly, so it was a rather rushed job

Like I said earlier, that isn't the best route to do, and I am going to reroute mine soon as some parts of the hose dip down, but that's where I chose to put mine instead of going to the engine bay.
