Rear Differential Gasket Leaking

Doesn't appear to be a very lucky week. I noticed a few drips in the driveway and kept an eye out for what it could be. Didn't see much up front. Then I realized the drip was in the back near my spare. Confirmed it was the rear differential dripping from the gasket. I refilled the differential with my normal mobil 1 synthetic gear lube to buy me some time. (it's a relatively slow drip, but don't want to run the risk of going dry)

I try to do everything myself, but seeing that the assembly needs to be popped off from the front, it looks like I would need to remove the drive train. I'm thinking of taking it to the stealership :bash:

Has anyone had this issue before?

Have they done it themselves or brought it to a shop?

How much can I expect to be swindled?

Anyone who pulls their third member has to change the gasket. With that said, leaks aren't that common. You can do it yourself if you have some jack stands, jack, set of tools, a little time. A buddy is optional. Figure 3-4 hours. Plan on half the amount of time being used to scrape the old gasket off. Here's a link on another forum that shows some good pictures and has some input from others.

No clue on dealer pricing. I'd guess ~ $450. Who knows.
