Rear Differential Leak

We are getting a small leak from pin hole's in the rear differential casing, JB Weld has lasted 8 months on one application and about 14 months on the 2nd. My mechanic typically drains the fluid, cleans the entire case, sands the area leaking and then lathers it with with the JB Weld. Has anyone had any luck with another solution to something like this? I'm trying to avoid replacing the entire rear end, just a shell of one is $1000. Any feedback is appreciated!

Many posts on this issue here and on Yotatech. Search for rusted rear axle, axle swap, etc. The link in my sig has info about what I did.

I am about to JB weld a friends's housing the same as you have. It's good to have an estimate on how long it will last. Sad to hear it is only about a year.

There is a thread here called "serious frame rust questoin" [sic] that shows another guy that had his welded shut for a couple hundred bucks.

Add your location to your profile so we can see where you are, it makes a difference for finding salvage housings.
