I was wonderring if anyone has installed a toyota locking rear diff. on a 3rd gen 4runner that did not have it? I know on the new FJC alot of the hardware for the off-road options are installed even if not ordered and it is just a matter of getting the wiring harness and switch to activate them (learned this from a friend that has one). Is this true for the RR diff lock? (keeping fingers crossed). If not, how hard is it and cost?

Thanks for the help and the welcome. Now I just have to decide what way to go. I am also going to check on the price of an axle with one already installed off a wrecked one since it appears I would have to remove the axle anyways.
First though...just ordered an Airaid intake (doing the ISR mod) and True Flow air filter. Then doing the deckplate mod.

As for Elton, i am not sure why he's here on this forum. He refers everyone to YT. YT is a good forum, i agree. YT has plenty of business without having to resort to this cheap tactic. Just to make it crystal clear...this forum was setup to be a forum for the AVERAGE customer. This was the sole reason why i created this forum...a forum for people like me who use their vehicle on-road and off-road. This forum was NEVER meant to be just for off-roading...plenty of those if you search the net. This forum is for everyone, from the off-roader to the current fad. Everyone is welcome on this forum. Sorry Thai,I didn't mean it that way but i'm also serious when I recommend this site to anybody that wants a 4Runner with larger rims since this is the site that has the most available info on that trend and if anybody needs 4th gen info there is no other site with as many 4th gen members period.
This site does have the widest array of examples of goodies for 4Runners and that's due to the appeal of the avarage Runner owner and doesn't cater to one aspect of the truck hobby and that's what makes me stick around on this site and I love the technobabble on this site.

has anyone done the arb upgrade for comparison, if so about how much does that run? you need to install an air compressor to run arb right?

Yeah, I've got ARB lockers front and rear. They do require an air supply, such as the small compressor from ARB or your own OBA.
As for a comparision, they're about the same in action. Push a button and you go from open to locked. The motor system on the Toy e-locker is problematic, the only issue w/the ARB is possible damage to the air line.
