Rear Hatch Hydraulics...slow...weak

I have an 00 4runner, and the rear hatch hydraulics seem to be weak. They do not force the door all the way up.

Is there any adjustments on these, or do I need to replace them?

Is this a difficult task?

You're probably going to need to replace them (they aren't adjustable). I have the same annoying problem on my '02 and I constantly find myself having to help the door up the last foot or so, especially when its cold.

try a refresh

Give the struts a workout by moving the hatch up and down a few times and see if that restores full travel. If not they likely will need exchanged.

Pep Boys just had a 2 for 1 sale on these last weekend -may be still going....

Same problem here. It's a real drag. However, if I was going to spend the money on new ones I would probably put them under the hood.

Mine do the same thing. It is kind of annoying, but I really don't use the back hatch that much. If it gets to where it only goes up half way I will have to look into replacing them.
