Rear hatch security chain?

I'm going to build a rear storage box to secure items for traveling. It will have a lock but I'm looking to add another layer of security.

I want to add a chain to the rear hatch with a padlock "link". Before I start I was wondering if anyone has already done this (why reinvent the wheel). Basically it limits the opening of the hatch so you cant get to the slide out box.

Any feds or LEO guys running something like this?

Thanks

bolt it down to the floor. Can't remove it and you won't be limiting you door opening everytime you get into the hatch.

I can't see a thief wanting to take the whole box ... usually they only want easy to carry items worth money. I would do as suggested and bolt the box down, and make sure it has a good lock. If you are extra worried about where the truck is back it up to a tree, building etc for the night.

Replace the pull strap on the hatch (if you have one) with some kind of ring or something and attach a chain to it, and to one of the tie-down loops.
