1998 limited 4rnr hatch window problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can get the hatch window (on 1998 Toyota 4Rnr Limited) to go up and down when I put 12volts directly to the motor but when I have a friend use the console switch I have to help it up and down - lots of help! It also clicks a bunch (relay?) while we're doing this. So, it seems there is some kind of power (voltage) drop between the console switch and the motor. Any ideas of what my next step should be?

The power is supplied from the orange relay box that is mounted on the rear hatch.

The clicking that you hear is probably the power feeding back into the relay box.

I'm guessing that the window won't go down with the switch without the extra 12 volt connected to it, right?

If true, The wires feeding the hatch are probably broken. This happens at the convoluted rubber tube at the top left side of the hatch. Pull the plastic holder off (and throw it away. It is not needed and causes extra stress on the wires inside). I cant remember but I think you can pull the rubber back and find the broken wires inside.
