rear heat problem

Would anyone know why the heat for the back seating area blows air just fine but no heat.The front puts heat out just fine,is there a seperate heater core for the back possibly? Any help would be greatly appreciated

haha, mine does exact opposite, pumps out super hot air all the time. 8)

Isn't the rear heater electric? Pretty sure it is on my '90.

the rear heat in my 84 doesn't work at all. havent torn into it though to figure it out.

Yes, the rear heater has it's own core.
If you're not getting heat you don't have proper coolant flow to it or the core is totally clogged.

AFAIK it's std equipment, both my 80's 4Runners have it.

But they both are SR5's. Maybe it's part of the SR5 trim package.

It was an option, but may have been standard in Canada, like the block heater... Neither of mine have it, 86 DLX or 87 SR5. It seems to be the only option mine doesn't have.

just had mine apart the other day and fourwd1 is right the rear has its own heat core. if you look under the truck in that area you will be able to see the hoses supplying it. if it was leaking the PO might have just bypassed it.
