Rear Heater?

So i have an 87 4runner sr5. well the other day i was hanging out with a couple buddies and the ones in the back wouldnt shut up about being cold.
thus realizing that i dont have a rear heater?
i have the factory options list from 87 and it say a rear heater it standard.
so my questions is...is a rear heater standard, and where is it located. (heater core, switches)
any ideas would be helpful.

The rear heater control on all 1984-89 Toyota 4-Runners (1st generation) and 1990-95 (2nd generation) is located between the center arm rest console on the back bottom.

An SR5 model should have a rear heater built into the center console. There's a temp control and fan switch in the rear.

You have to disconnect the coolant lines from underneath before you can remove the console/heater assy.

Or you can remove the console and leave the heater unit in place.

I also have an '87 sr5 4Runner. No rear heater. It came from Texas where I guess heating is not as important as it is up here in the Great White North. My center console has 2 compartments. A small one on top and a much larger one under it. I am actually transplanting one into mine as I switch the interior ( putting in grey as I don't like the red one in it now). I will miss the extra storage but my daughter will be happier, and warmer.

I've owned an 85' SR5 that had it's own heater core, temp control and fan all housed in the center console. I also had an 86' SR5 that had extra heat ducts that ran under the carpet and exited under the back of the front seats with no seperate controls. These trucks were both loaded with factory moonroofs, PW, PL,all cloth interiors, altimeters/inclinometers, tilt, cruise, illuminated ash trays/lighter outlets and the ultra rare 12v worklight with cord and outlet under the dash. This leads me to believe that toyota offered two different rear heat options on first gen 4runners.

Running some ducts from the front might not be a bad idea. I am going to look into that before I get to the heater. I know that the Astrovans have thin wide ducts going under the seats that I might be able to modify. Not a bad idea at all.

so i guess i have no rear heater. i pulled out my center console and it was just carpet under there. too bad.
any one know of a 12 volt heater i could put in the back?
