Rear Is Sagging.

Hello there, I have a 2002 4runner limited 4wd. I replaced the front suspension with monroe reflex and the rear with monroe sensatrac about 6 months ago. I recently notice that the rear of the driver side seems lower than the passenger side or maybe the passenger side is higher, what ever it is, it's not even. How can i tell if my shocks are defective without having me to take them off. I do not see any fluids spilling out from the shocks. The coils are the original ones and my truck has 102k miles. Also can i get new coils and daystar kit to give me a lift using my struts and shocks? I have read some threads here in this forum but im not to sure if my shocks would be able to work with taller coils. My plan is to keep what i have and just replace the coils and buy the body lift kit if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I don't know much about lifts but 1 thing I can tell you is this. Your shocks only prevent the vehicule to go up and down forever when you hit a bump. Coils make the height of the truck. Your problem for the uneven truck comes from the coils.

Thanks charlee78 that makes sense, now since i just purchased these shocks im hoping to raise my truck without having to buy new shocks. Also would love to attain a plush ride, i dont want to buy coils that would make my truck ride harsh.

the daystar kit will work with OEM sized shocks

If you don't want to go too high then you can still use the stock sized shocks. OME 881's in the front and 906's in the rear would be a nice setup. Toytec.com would be a good place to start.

There's probably nothing wrong with your coils, the driver side slight sag is normal. You have to figure your gas tank is on that side, so the suspension is always carrying extra weight on the drivers side. I noticed the same thing on my 02 before I got the PP springs, for now it sits even, but I assume the drivers side will eventually sag from the extra weight.

Thanks Pat & ONe, One i sent an email to toytec and this was their responce.
OME coils are firmer. They will ride best with the matching OME shocks, I have no idea how the ride will be with Monroe shocks. The med and heavy coils should be only used with the OME N91S shocks.
Pat that makes sense about the gas tank, i did'nt think about that. You posted that you change to pp coils, two things what are pp coils? also how is your ride quality. Thanks for your help.

thats why i just went w/ the 99 springs, they are technically stock, so i assumed the stock height bilsteins would work well w/ them, and so far on the street i can't complain. as far as off road, well i'll post more after this weekend.

Stick Figure how much of a lift did u get with the 99 coils? Also would you say they give you a firmer ride than the oem coils?

The PP springs refer to the old Performance Products 1" lift progressive rate springs made by H&R. The ride is absolutely incredible but unfortunately you cannot buy these springs anymore as either H&R stopped making them or PP stopped buying them forcing H&R to cease production. Perhaps when 4wheel parts took over they didn't want these to compete with some other spring line they were getiing cheaper?

Hello Darric from toytec, thanks for following up. I have the monroe sensatrac 37157,and the monroe reflex struts 71351. The reflex have a firmer ride than the sensatrac, my question is which coils can i use with my shocks, are 881 & 890 ok.? or do i have to buy different shocks for these coils. Im looking into getting a lift without changing my shocks if possible. Any suggestions or ideas would gladly be appreciated. I am mainly going for looks at the moment, i am not going to do any hard core off roading......maybe in the future, but for now only looks.

Yes, we would recommend new struts, for sure. I know nothing about that shock tower...
