Rear Land Cruiser Spring Install Question

I am installing a Sonoran Steel system 1 lift kit I got used. On there website it says that I should not install the cone bump stop in the spring. I just wanted to confirm that I am ok to just have the spring ride on the top plate with nothing there. The fit wasn't very snug at the top. I would prefer to leave the cone out as it just adds more lift and I want to minimize the rake.

I'm not running a SS lift. But I do have LC springs, and I put the little cone thing in. Nothing bad has really come of it... Plus its another .25" of lift :D lol
 
i think it really depends on how much lift you want. if you want the airlift bags with the LC coils for towing heavy loads, i would suggest using w the cones. i removed my cones, and have no idea where i put them since i installed that same lift, my airlift1000 is now sold because the bags were too short for the coils w/ out the cones.

are those measurements cone in or cone out? :nerd:

lol, i left mine in not a big fan of metal to metal contact in any regard, if there's a chance to prevent that i'm there man...just personal preference on my part .

i admit though it may have not been a bad idea to remove them so i can lose the spacer on the front end and still sit level....still thinking about this as i have quite a bit more lift then i need at this time.
 
I am definitely not a fan of metal on metal contact either, it also doesn't center as well. I just want to keep the rake as little as possible. My feeling is that cone is about a 10mm lift. I figured if it was safe without the cones I wouldn't use them.

yep fully aware of that.....and there's nothing wrong with it, i just don't like adding more when there's no real need.

again personal preference thing, just doesn't feel right esp. on an assy that sees alot of moment/vibes and the rest

but again it's fully acceptable not to have the cone as like you stated the bottom is metal on metal, it's not how i would have done it if i was designing the truck...but yeah, just a weird little tick i have....
 
So i got a whole set of the FJ80 springs im wondering how to count the wraps? im still new to this and not sure what that means. any help would be great and is it possible to put the whole set on my 4Runner? Front and Back and how much lift do you think i can get out of it?

what year did you get em from? what color codes?

the front springs from the LC go on the back of your 3rd gen.

unless you have a 2nd gen, you prob just want to sell the rear coils to a 2nd gen owner that will lift them.
 
I got them from my uncle off his 96 Fj80 i believe. What are you talking about color code? i did look at them and saw like a pinkish purple dots on them? Any help would be great. Thanks

* 21" Grey Orange White 9.25 wraps
* 20.25" Blue Yellow White 8.75 wraps-one of these is a confirmed LX450

the front lc coils will not work for the front of a 4runner only the rears will swap, as for counting coils just sit them on a flat surface and count from where it is cut, from there every 360 degree motion is a wrap.

havent measured lately but im around 1.5" rake right now with 8 wraps. i didnt even think about removing the cone stoppers until reading this post. what would you guys guess it would drop ? i would think with the stopper preloading the coil it would definitely drop the thickness of the stop but also slightly more due to the preload? maybe wishful thinking but im tired of the rake
