First post. I hope this is the right place for help.
I have a 2000 model with the 5spd transmission. The rear door wouldn't latch, so I unbolted the unit on the door, cleaned it up so the latch works freely and put it back on. No problem latching, but the damn door ajar light won't go off. Drained the battery dead after sitting for two weeks. Took it apart again cleaned some more, dinked with it a bit and it seems the latch is not rebounding sufficiently to turn the light off. I can get the light off by giving the mechanism a little push to help it rotate. It isn't sticking, there's no resistance it just doesn't spring back enough.
Is it a spring or something electronic that has moved/shorted due to the cleaning. Funny timing. It should be working better, not worse.
Thanks
