Rear lights mounted to spoiler?

I was looking at that real estate to mount some super low profile warning lights necessary for my work. The wiring would have to be a bit creative. My biggest issue is the area where the wiper cradles. There’s not a lot of mounting surface there.
For your needs, you might be better off looking at the lower part of the bumper.
I more realistically have considered mounting lights similar to what you’re asking to the rear of my roof basket. It would be a lot easier buying mounts and would be a great spot.

I wonder if you could mount a set of Baja's S2's under the spoiler near the corners of the rear window. They're pretty small and ought to be lightweight enough while still being bright enough for work lights. Not sure how to get the spoiler off for wiring and mounting though.

I've thought about it too. I was wondering if you drilled into the sides by the rear marker light if you could flush mount them into the spoiler. Make them look like they are supposed to be there almost.
I would like some up high orange markers for dusty trails as well as a good campsite flood.

I've seen some antenna mounts, like the one from K-40 that mount over an edge like a hood or on the rear door. I think Amazon has something similar for universal mounting....might be something to look at that wouldn't require any drilling.
Or maybe do flush mounts under the tail light in the flat spot on the bumper there, that should work provided nothing behind there is in the way.

Thing about mounting up high (especially for camping) is soon as you open the hatch you are losing the light you are needing.

i was thinking of removing the spoiler and and mount to one of those mounting points via a bracket then reinstall the spoiler

Good point. I would still think it would be neat spot for some trail running lights.

Yeah, that or a lantern like Grandpa used. I don't think they would get enough use to warrant all of that install work.

One thing to remember...if you lift the rear hatch, the lights may be pointing straight up in the air....I mounted two Srq's on the side of the hatch, which is more then ample light for anything.
Previous 4runner had lights cut into "hand hold" cups that you grab to close the hatch...with a small switch. Even though I used them occasionally...it was so much more convenient then walking up and turning on the back light switch.

Great location.
With the gate in the open position, they'll be pointing skyward but in every other scenario, this is a much better location than the lower bumper if we can find the right lights to fit the space. With bikes, trailers, nearly every backing up scenario, a higher mounted flood would work better than the lower bumper mount location. I'd love to find a location the flush mount Baja S2's would fit... May just have to make some "Rock Lights" work.
As for hatch open times, there are a million led interior light options to light the work space.
