There's only one way to find out
Why don't one of you guys just pull the glove box off and poke around a bit with a meter to see if all the wires are still in the right place before snipping anything.
Be advised that the owners manual states:
●Do not drive over 5 mph (8 km/h) when the rear differential is locked.
That's why it is not allowed in 4h
Of course...99% of the public wouldn't know why their rear end was chirping when taking any remotely tight turn...I beach drive and I certainly want to go over 5mph with the locker in the sand...plenty of slip to keep the locker happy.
I may experiment and see if this approach on the sticky works...I imagine it will.
Most important thing about Lockers is to know when to NOT run them which is just about every time you are not stuck. There are a few exceptions of course. I can even see how they would work against you in sand.
Never understood the need for this mod but as said, be careful.
The mod will almost certainly work, I've done it on my '12 TE. I'm just giving you a heads up. Even in 4L, it's easy to go faster than 5mph, so why do they say not to use it above 5mph? It might be that the eLocker itself can't handle speed. So, be careful my friend.
Curious why you feel you need the locker while in the sand? What psi do you run in the sand?
I take my Limited on the beach all the time and don't even lock it into 4h

I usually run about 20 psi. I don't need it. But it's available on the car and I liked the grey wire mod on my old Tacoma in 4hi. Someone made a good point that it can cause more trouble than it's worth if you don't know how to use them to your advantage (ie...someone locked and burying both rear tires).
As I mentioned before I just like the ability to use it with the ratio of 4hi vs. the very low gear ratio of 4lo...which I guess is why this mod has existed and been enjoyed for so many years.
