Rear o2 sensor question

My buddy has a 2000 4Runner, 4WD, Auto, 3.4

He has the PO420 issue, and emission testing is needed.
Does the stock rear o2 sensor unscrew and separate from the mounting flange?
I want to do the spark plug non-fouler fix for now.

Let me know.

Thanks!!

I was hoping that I could remove just the sensor, leaving the flange and the 2 flange nuts alone. I see some replacement o2 sensors thread into a flange, but the stock appears to be rounded so I cant get a socket over it. I won't be able to "see" it with my own eyes until tomorrow, I was hoping to get some info beforehand...

The sensor does not, as far as I am aware, unscrew from the mounting flange. I've never tried it, but it didn't seem obviously apparent any time I've taken it off.

The URD O2 simulator kit works perfectly for removing the 0420 code.

Thanks guys.

Ed_C, Thanks. I just read up and watched the vid. That's what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Wish me luck.

Toyota only used the screw-in rear sensor in ´01 and ´02. So no chance for non-fouler fix in the earlier years.

Thanks everyone for your answers.
I ended up doing the "Filter" fix, with a resistor and a capacitor. Pulled the EFI fuse to reset the ECU while I crawled under his rig at lunch to "implement" the fix on his rear o2 sensor harness. No CEL for 3 weeks now. He passed his emission testing 2 weeks ago. All is good and new tags delivered.

This is the fix I found. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to forward a YouTube vid, but here it is:
